From the Yummy Files....

Just pulled this file out of my drafts and finally decided to post it. I guess i had to let it marinate? Im just wondering why these two fine ass black men were in one place together and I wasnt invited? Ugh anyways, Pharell got to meet our President at the Cinco de Mayo event at the White House. Both men looked sharp! My first choice is Obama then Pharell..

Support GOOD music!

Support this stylish music artist and BUY her album. No limewire. Its available on itunes and in stores everywhere. Im so diggin Janelle Monae's style. Its original and refreshing. She's quickly becoming one of my favorites. She is sexy with out being revealing and trashy* Extra points for a woman who can pull off such a "left" look when everyone is going right.

I LOVE this video! Dispite the extreme corny-ness of it all. I am a huge fan of Toya (Lil Wayne's Baby Momma) and Kandi (from Xscape and ATL Housewives). The rest of these bitches... ahem yeah I dont care for. The song features Rasheeda,Toya, Diamond, Lola & Kandi explaining why they have the best p*ssy. (PAUSE).There are also trends to look out for! Finger gloves, Amorir Shades, Ear Candy and much more! Enjoy the video! Tell me what you think...

Rih Rih on chill mode.

Rihanna was spotted on the streets of London but not in her usual Vampire-esk look. She was chillin' but her swagg was on FULL attack. The media is used to catching Rih Rih looking something like this.

But boy o boy did she surprise me with this little number! I love the change. Moments like these do I realize that celebs are just normal people. She looks like she works at BBC, very Teyanna Taylor.

She Got Her Nails Done Up.

Living in the New York City area no matter how fashion forward you may be. There is a trend that all women can actively be a part of, and by the looks of it this trend is here to stay for a while. I'm talking about nails girls! Acrylics, Gel, UV Gel, all that. But I'm not talking about "Plain Jane" french manicure nails, I'm talking about the once looked down upon "around the way" girl nails. It just happens that nail art has become the latest craze in high society. But no one does it better than the girls on the streets of NEW YAWK.
My very own interpretation on the zebra Nails. This is what $10 bucks in the BX gets you ;).

Zac Posen for Target Affair

Posen is teaming up with Target for the "Go International" collection. All you fashionistas in the new york area should be aware that a pop-up shop featuring the entire collection will be open on April 15th at 11:00pm until April 16th at 11:00pm. The pop-up store will have a party atmosphere so lets look our best ladies! Lets not be on "colored-folks" time and get there before all the clothes go flying off the racks. All items from this collection are under $199! The line is rumored to include a brocade party dress, gold halter dress, red leather motorcycle jacket, tuxedo jacket and pants, two-piece ruffled red dress and red swimsuit with plunging neckline. The address for the pop-up store is 481 8TH AVE AND 34TH STREET.

See You There! Yours Truly...

Men In Pink

This Summer I would like to see my fellas in something other than those white tees that come in $10 four-pack, pause! I have a weakness for men in Pastels! Ladies- Dont wait for your man to hop on this concept, go out and pick up some cute pastel tees or even maybe a one button blazer for Spring 2010. You know once you buy them pastel easter inspired clothes they are gunna want some footwear to coordinate with... (hence the first picture below)

Nike Hi-Top Gingham Dunks 2010

we are ALL from the motherland, lets start dressing like it. American Apparel has the best interpretation of the "Afrika"look. More traditional routes are encouraged this summer as well. Links below to my two favorite Dashiki looks.

More than a sex symbol

Okay... Not really feeling the song, what so ever. BUT! This woman is glamourizing mutliple personality disoder and is serving it up in her first debut video! I love every look in this vid and Im almost certain she hired a new stylist because Ms. Nicki is getting my vote! I think I will eventually grow on this single but I just watch the video for the bad ass outfits! P.S If she got buttshots they look AMAZING! The green hair works for her, Im sure I will be kicking myself in the ass when every chick on the block gets a green weave but for now....

Living in the "HELL of Fashion"?

As many of my followers know I go to LIM College. A small business oriented fashion school located in midtown Manhattan. I am currently taking a fundamental class there where we are learning about where fashion has been. Just last week my class was assigned to do a "decade project" on various decades of fashion in America. It came across to me in a lecture that fashion is indeed DEAD. I starting to wonder where we went wrong with this form of art. Ever since time there has been a cohesive look to the men and women of the time except for the decade we now live in. Up until the 1980's people actually used to put effort and relevance into their clothing choices. Going to the movies was an event to look your best. Now whenever I go to the movies I see the youth of America wearing pajamas outside or rocking the infamous legging trend. When someone thinks of the 1920's they think of the flapper explosion and the shorter loose fitting clothing women wore to liberate themselves. The 1930's was a time of class, sophistication and glamour. But what does the 2000's say? One thing is true- the people of today do not have a cohesive look. It has been the individual taste instead of the well thought out movement to one classic decade look. My theory is that after the 1980's the psyche of the American people changed. Ever since we have been incorporating spandex work out looks into the wardrobe of Americans its actually never left. Ever season they have been using 80's influences. From acid wash destroyed denim to the leggings craze which has taken the world by storm, we are living in the HELL of fashion. The 90's were all about loose grungy street look with influences from rock and roll, and hip hop. But to have a "trickled-up" fashion theory is what scares me. Designers aren't designing clothes to recreate the woman. The woman of today is starting the newest trends on the street that will end up on a Chanel runway. Having a down-ward theory to fashion is how it has always been and now since the streets tell the runway what's hot the world is truly doomed. This phenomenal change in fashion forecasting has caused a decade of treacherous clothing mistakes and fashion faux paus. I'm sure that between 2010-2020 that this inevitable downward spiral of trying to recreate the past will continue and what we wore in 2000 we will be still wearing in 2020. Welcome to HELL. Because like Hip Hop- fashion is truly dead.

Alicia Keys was spotted rocking a leather mini and Patricia Fields pumps for her album release in Japan. Looking FIERCE there Ms. Keys. I would have definitely worn different colored tights but hey that's just me. ;-*

Fashion Faux Pas- Kelis

WTF was she thinking? Kelis caused many raised eyebrows by going out in public like this. So much that she caught the attention of PETA. They sent her a letter calling her out for killing animals for fur and she responded right back. Here is her long drawn-out response to PETA. Lord be with anyone who fully reads this cry for attention! lol
"There is no humane way to kill anything, let me start there. It’s unfortunate but it’s part of life. With that being said, I would eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told me it was meaty and delicious. And after doing a very minimal amount of research……. I found out that the founder Ingrid Newkirk is completely batty. I had a feeling but she far exceeded my expectations. I mean certifiably insane! Lol this chicks will is nuts, google it – it’s a riot! Beyond the fact that I think she’s a diabetic, which means she needs insulin, which is taken from lab pigs (I know this because my sister happens to be in veterinary school), which would be completely hypocritical. It’s like don’t abuse animals unless it can help me.
I feel very strongly about a lot of things such as the sweatshops that spin cotton and the blood on their hands. Btw it’s not just the look of fur. It’s warm as hell and feels glorious, ever rubbed faux fur on your body? Nothing luxurious about that. Then the letter proceeded to name artist and designers who don’t wear real fur. Great! More for me! I don’t judge them, don’t judge me.
If I started wearing endangered animals like polar bear or orangutan then talk to me. (Which btw for the record I would not – I do believe in the preservation of endangered species) But the minks and chinchilla that quite honestly are rodents and if weren’t in the form of a coat I would demand they be put to death anyway are not an issue to me.
The death of high fashion. Ugh.
I eat meat, and in fact my mouth salivates as I type the word meat! And the paint throwing that’s just ridiculous! What if I was hurling Loubitons and Pierre Hardy’s at every sad poorly dressed person on the street? As right as I may be it’s just fanatical and crazy. And people have the right to feel as they please. What about art? Survival of the fittest. Natural selection? No let’s just let all the rodents run free and over take our cities. Oh wait they have, NY and LA in particular are infested! Why don’t u save them all from scavenging on the streets and ruining my evening strolls, take them home. Make them pets! Get off my back! Pun intended!
Underpaid minorities picking your vegetables, now that’s fine for you right? Please, fight for their rights. How about the poverty in the communities of brown people around the world. She had the nerve to say (and I quote) “get over it” talking of the issue of black people and slavery in this country verses cows being slaughtered. Is she kidding me? Lol yes she must be. Actually, she’s lucky most black people have real issues to worry about in the U.S and don’t give a crap what her delusional privileged opinions are. But she should try saying that again just for kicks n giggles on the corner of Adam Clayton Powell Blvd in Harlem n see how well people “get over it” lol.
If u want to preach do it about something worthwhile don’t waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk.
Find a worthwhile cause like the women being maimed in these Middle Eastern countries. Or female circumcision. Or women’s rights here in America, we still get paid less for doing the same jobs as men. Quite honestly if you hate the world so much go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that’s mine on that! xoxo"

Thank God for ANGELA Simmons!

Angela Simmons just twitpic'ed these oh so FIERCEFLY shoes! I have no idea where she found these and who even makes the shoe but damn- if these aren't the cutest shoes I've stumbled upon lately! Enjoy! ;-*

Why Black Women Should Stay Together

To be perfectly honest- we are living in a world where prejudice is something that goes un-noticed. But how does the rest of the world view black women? Loud? Bad Attitudes? Can't get along with each other? Well why do the world and ourselves a favor and prove them wrong! Here are top five reasons why Black women should stick together!

1. We won't let anyone else beat our kids! lol

2. Who else is going to understand our bad hair days?

3. Your sister will always have your back- even when your in the wrong!

4. You will always know where your man is at, full police report type shit!

5. Who else is going to hold us down?

-add your reasons in a comment! ;-*

Wrap It Up

So you know I had to blog about this ever-spreading epidemic that causes waves and waves of after math effects. UNPROTECTED SEX. Many of us do it- and I think all fashionistas should stand against this and all agree that condoms are en vogue! It only takes a second to put on a Jimmy Hat and if you live in the New York area there is no excuse! Free condoms are everywhere around the city! Any party or festival you go to they throw them at you encouraging you to use them so follow through! Wear a condom every time! And a tip for the ladies; ALWAYS carry condoms with you. Don't leave it up to the men. Think about it- if we left the responsibility to them then who is to blame when we are late on our period? You know the dangers so lets all be responsible in 2010! much love ;-*

Bella Terra Shimmer 9 Stack

This phenomenal product retails for about 69.99 but it is totally worth it! Bella Terra Cosmetics are an all natural line of makeup and the 9 stack shimmers are 100% natural minerals. Bella Terra is made for the most sensitive skin in mind. These shimmers easily blend and can become nail polish when blended with clear nail polish. These shimmers can be blended with lotion for an all over body shimmer effect. They become lip gloss when blended with clear lip gloss and so on. The 9 stack pictured was a gift from my best friend Shaika and it is called "Mother of Pearl". This 9 stack is a great investment for those of you looking for something very versatile.

HIP Duo Eyeshadows

What I love about these eye shadows is that they can be found at your local drugstore- Walgreens, CVS, Duane Reade (for my new yorkers), etc. HIP stands for high intensity pigments and boy do they fit their name! Although I suggest to always use eyeshadow primer always- with these eye shadows you don't need it! They are high quality and economical. They retail at about 8 us dollars. Perfect for my frugalistas! ;-*

Rihanna on the cover of W Mag

Rihanna surfaced on the face of W magazine and looked quite FIERCE! She wore a white cut out Gucci dress and jewelry from my favorite - Chanel, Dior, and Ivanka Trump. She actually "werked" her whole shoot for this months' issue. The spread consisted of black and white solo pics from yours truly. Although I do not support this chicks whack-ass music; When you kill it I will give you props! ;-*

Look out for Keyshia Dior

I remember when I first discovered who this fellow fashionista was- I was on twitter and someone mentioned her and I saw a picture of her partying it up with Young Money. I fell in love with her curly mohawk and blue lipstick (her trademark). So I decided to some research and I thought that you guys should be on the look out for this celeb stylist/actress/model. See is featured in Timberland's newest video "Say Something" feat Drake. I also follow her on twitter and she's pretty cool, always responding to fans. She's on my Bad Bitch list!

Kinky Curly v. Miss Jessies

For all of my natural sista's- this ones for you! As a natural woman myself I've been on the constant search for products on how to up-keep my natural locks- and these two products were by far the two the most popular product lines for natural hair. Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding is a leave-in conditioner that brings out your natural curl pattern by giving the hair cuticle weight. It costs 38.oo and comes in three different sizes. What I like about the Curly Pudding was the consistency- it was true to its pudding name but i did NOT like the smell of this product. The smell was very strong and grape like- almost like Robitussin. :( I also did not like the way my hair came out- I have 4a/4b curls and I wasn't satisfied with the curl. Kinky Curly Curling Custard is a clear cement glue like custard that smells amazing! It definitely smells like some kind of vanilla baked cookies. After a couple of days, this product starts to flake and it gets annoying. If you buy Kinky Curly Curling Custard be sure to buy the whole line of products to make sure of your hair not looking flaky. Besides that i liked the way my hair came out- very corkscrewish. This product retails at 29.99. Overall I would recommend the Kinky Curly Curling Custard over Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding due to the better outcome of curls with Kinky Curly. But I encourage you to try both- different strokes for different folks.
